Learning Resources

lear.jpg

I am available for freelance work to to design learning resources and develop workshops, for formal and informal learning, and for all ages. I have produced a number of trails, maps and games for learning and exploring spaces and collections, some of them can be seen here.

Some other examples of workshops and resources I have worked on:

The East India Company at Sutton House

After successfully applying for funding to further develop a project called Colonial Countryside in partnership with the University of Leicester, which engages school children with the colonial histories of National Trust properties, I managed a project where year 5 students from a local school worked with artist Lola Lela to produce an artwork responding to the connections between the East India Company, and Sutton House. The pupils dyed fabrics using traditional methods, from inks and dyes that would have been traded by the East India Company to create striking ship sails, which were exhibited in the Linenfold Parlour, a room that itself exhibits the wealth such connections were responsible for. I also commissioned new research and a the design of a booklet to accompany the project.

Black History Month

I managed the growth of Sutton House's Black History Month school programme over four years, and it became the National Trust's most successful Black History schools programme, reaching around 3000 local primary school pupils throughout October/November each year. We worked with a freelancer to deliver the workshops and to help shape the workshops. For 2018 we delivered workshops about the Windrush. I designed interpretation and resources, and worked with Learning Officer Katy Parry and our Freelance Educator Leah Cadogan to build Key Stage 1 and 2 workshops using drama, object handling, singing and writing.

Get in touch with your workshop and learning resource ideas and to see how I can help you.
